Step back in time to the summer of 1956. The St Jude’s summer fête is in full swing. Mrs Robinson’s jam is selling like hotcakes and the hotcakes have all gone. Roger Smallcombe the new vicar is getting soaked in the stocks and Mrs Devenport has just sworn to kill her husband if she catches him tinkering with Jennifer Clayton’s coconuts again. In the midst of this innocent carnival atmosphere, there is a sinister plot unfolding.
As the fête draws to a close the happy atmosphere is shattered by the bloodcurdling cry of “Murder!” A body has been discovered behind the Tombola…..but who is the victim? Who is the murderer? And who has won the picnic hamper in the raffle? All will be revealed before the bunting is down at St Jude’s in a Fête Worse than Death.
